Tip of the Week: How to Use Google Forms

Sometimes the best technology solutions will fly under your radar, and depending on your company’s preferred productivity suite, you might already have tools that are being underutilized. One such tool is Google Forms. Today, we’ve got a step-by-step guide that shows you how to create a Google Form for a variety of purposes.

Never Heard of Google Forms?

With Google Forms, you can create online surveys, quizzes, and forms with just a couple of clicks. It’s a great way to collect information for any number of uses, whether you need simple text responses or file uploads. Better yet, it’s stored in a Google Sheet, which makes analysis a breeze.

But How Do You Use Google Forms?

  1. Create a new form - While you can easily do this by going to forms.google.com and clicking on the Blank option, you can also do so in Google Sheets or Google Drive. Either way works, and it’s up to you.
  2. Edit and format your form - Add questions of various types, including multiple choice, short answer, checkboxes, dropdowns, and more. You’ll also have the chance to add images or videos to your form. If you care about branding, you can customize the colors and fonts according to your company’s brand.
  3. Send your form out -  It’s easy to share your Google form; all you have to do is share it by email, a direct link, or embed it on a website.
  4. Analyze the form’s responses - Your form’s responses will automatically be added to a Google Sheet, where you can review them more in-depth at a later time. You can also see charts and graphs, which makes visualizing the results easier than ever.

Data collection like this doesn’t have to be a terribly long or complex process. It can be as easy as using a Google Form. Keep in mind, as a free tool, Google Forms might have limited capabilities, but it’s certainly easy and simple enough to use for the occasional simple purpose.

  • The office potluck sign-up - Avoid the duplicate dishes by knowing in advance who is bringing what to your next office potluck.
